Tom, a Danish boy, is on vacation at his uncle’s tea farm in Kenya. During a trip the bus accidentally leaves him alone and frightened on the road in the middle of the night with no money and without his luggage. He meets Akori who invites him to his African home.

Tom experiences living in the bush and learns about Africa in dramatic ways. Tom is willing to help Akori, who has saved his life, and invites him to his uncle’s farm, though deeply worried about the reaction from his relatives.
